Condo Bungalows for Sale in Mississauga

If you are looking for condo bungalows for sale in Mississauga, you are looking for something specific, and general home searches will not find it for you. A condo bungalow gives you single level living with no stairs to climb, no driveway to shovel, and no roof to replace, while still feeling like a house rather than an apartment.

I'm Dave Holt, a Realtor with 18 years of experience in Mississauga, Oakville, and Burlington. Condo bungalows are one of the two property types I work with most, and I have spent years learning which complexes suit which buyers. That knowledge is what this page is for.

What Is a Condo Bungalow?

A condo bungalow is a detached or semi-detached one storey home where you own the interior of your home and the corporation maintains everything outside it. Snow clearing, lawn care, roofing, and exterior repairs are handled by the condominium corporation and covered by your monthly fee.

The trade-off is simple. You give up some control over the exterior and you pay a monthly fee. In return you stop being responsible for the parts of home ownership that get harder over time.

Most people searching for bungalows for sale in Mississauga are actually looking for one of three things: a true condo bungalow, a freehold bungalow where you still own the land and the exterior, or a bungaloft, which adds a partial second storey loft above a main floor primary bedroom. They are priced differently and they suit different people. If you are not sure which one fits, that is a conversation worth having before you start booking showings.

What to Look at Before You Buy

The monthly fee and what it covers.

Two complexes with similar fees can cover very different things. Some include water, some include building insurance, some cover far more exterior maintenance than others. The number on its own tells you almost nothing.

The reserve fund.

Age and the repair cycle.

Rules that affect how you live.

How the layout will age with you

How does my credit score affect my mortgage rate?

Condo Bungalows or Freehold Bungalows?

Condo bungalow Freehold bungalow
Exterior maintenance Handled by the corporation Your responsibility
Monthly fee Yes No
Land ownership Common elements shared You own the lot
Exterior changes Governed by the corporation Your decision
Typical buyer Wants low maintenance living Wants control and privacy

Neither is better. They suit different people. If you like gardening and want to paint your front door whatever colour you want, freehold is probably your answer. If you want to lock the door and travel for three months without worrying about the driveway, a condo bungalow is likely the better fit.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between a condo bungalow and a bungaloft?

A condo bungalow is entirely on one level. A bungaloft has a main floor primary bedroom with a partial second storey loft above, usually holding a guest bedroom, a bathroom, and an open area overlooking the main floor. A bungaloft gives you room for visitors without requiring you to use the stairs day to day.

Are condo bungalow fees higher than regular condo fees?
